WCJC is going green and our new Student e-Mail system will be used for all official communication with the college. Each student will be issued a student email account 24 hours after registration for their first class at WCJC. Please check WCJC Online Services to verify the Student e-Mail address that has been issued by the college. From that point on all information from WCJC that is sent to the student will be sent to the college issued email address.
Once the WCJC student email address is issued, students must login to the Student e-Mail system to set up the account. See instructions below. Login links for the student email system are located on the college home page, this page and in “WCJC Connect.”
It is the student’s responsibility to activate their student email account by logging into the Student e-Mail system, changing their password and setting up security questions. It is also the student’s responsibility to check this email account on a regular basis for important and up-to-date information.
Account Set up
Student e-Mail Prefix
A Student e-Mail prefix is the first part of the student’s WCJC issued Student e-Mail address (before the @student.wcjc.edu). When a student logs into the system, they should use the Student e-Mail prefix only and leave off the @student.wcjc.edu suffix.
An e-Mail prefix is assigned based on the following formula:
(first initial)(lastname)(last 3 numbers of User ID)
Example: A student named Jane Smith with a User ID of @04456789 would have an e-Mail prefix of jsmith789 (assuming there are no duplicates).
Sometimes alternatives must be issued in case of duplicates or last names longer than 16 characters. Please check WCJC Online Services to verify the Student e-Mail address that has been issued by the college. After logging in, click on the Personal Information tab and select View e-Mail Address(es). The default password for all new student e-mail accounts is set up with the following
(wcjc)(exclamation point)(6-digit birthday mmddyy).
So, the default password for Jane Smith, whose birthday is July 25, 1991 would be: wcjc!072591
All new passwords must be at least 8 characters in length AND must contain at least
3 of the following:
-special character (#, $, &, etc.)
Passwords will expire after 120 days. You will receive a message in your Student e-Mail box when your password is nearing expiration, and you will be prompted to change the password.
Students must reset their password and set up security questions the first time they login to the student email account in order to activate their account. After clicking on the student email login button students will be taken to the student email login interface. This is where students will normally type in their e-Mail prefix and password to access their account. However, on the first visit, students must look above the login box and click on the button titled “First Login”.
Step 1. Click on the “First Login” button, in bold red text above the login box
Step 2. Enter your e-Mail prefix and password. (Account Setting Suite)
Step 3. A security box will appear and prompt you to enter your default password, followed by a new password.
Step 4. After you have successfully changed your password, login to the Account Setting Suite again using your new password and click on "Enroll" on the left side of the navigation bar.
Step 5. Set up security questions within the system that you can answer to verify your identity if you should ever forget your password.
Step 6. Return to the Student e-Mail login page by clicking on the link in the upper corner that says "Back to Student E-mail."
Step 7. Enter your Student e-Mail prefix and new password into the login box.
Step 9. After accepting, you will enter your official Student e-Mail account.
Now that you have activated and completed enrollment, you can now login to your Student e-Mail by simply clicking on the Student e-Mail login button on the right column of the college home page.
You must enter security questions within the Account Settings Suite in order to be able to retrieve your password if you should ever lose it. The security questions should be based on factual information that you will not forget rather than personal preferences that may change over time. This will ensure your access to your account settings.
Retrieving and resetting passwords View printable detail instructions
If you lose or forget your password, you need only login to the Account Settings Suite by clicking on the Student e-Mail home page button and then selecting the "Account Set Up/ Password Reset" button below the login box. Once you reach the Account Settings Suite, click on the blue button that reads “Forgot Password?” The system will allow you to enter your e-Mail prefix and answer your security questions to enter the account and reset your password.
Your student email account will be locked if the incorrect password is entered too many times. Once the account is locked you must contact the Helpdesk (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. M-F) by calling 1-800-561-WCJC (9252) and press extension 6568 to request that your account be unlocked.
Google Apps for Education
WCJC’s Student e-Mail is provided through an agreement with Google Apps for Education. The Apps account includes student e-mail (a special type of Gmail account), Google Calendar, Google Talk, and Google Docs. When you sign in to your student email account you will automatically be signed in to all other Google Apps. The Google Apps include:
- Gmail (student e-mail accounts): 7.2 GBs (and counting) of email storage and search tools that help your school find information fast and instant messaging from right inside your inbox.
- Google Calendar: Educators and students can organize their schedules and share events and calendars with others.
- Google Talk: Educators and students can call or send instant messages to their contacts for free anytime, anywhere in the world.
- Google Docs: Share documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Collaborate in real-time with your team or with your whole school. You can publish final documents to the entire world, too.

FAQs for Student e-Mail
Is WCJC Student e-Mail optional?
No. An official college email address will be assigned to each student upon registration for his or her first class at WCJC. From the time the address is assigned it will act as the student’s official address for ALL communication with the college. Students are responsible to check their student e-Mail addresses for important information, notices, and other communications from the college.
Can I still receive letters and statements by mail?
No. WCJC is going green, meaning that in order to save resources we are switching to electronic communication.
How do I find out my Student e-Mail address?
Once you register for your first class you will be assigned a WCJC Student e-Mail address. To obtain your WCJC Student e-Mail address log into WCJC Online Services and click on the Personal Information tab, then select View e-Mail address(es). You must then login to the Student e-Mail system and activate your account by changing your password and setting up your security questions. See the First Login instructions above. Please allow 24 hours for your WCJC Student e-Mail address to be accessible before you activate your account.
What is my default password?
Your default password begins with “wcjc!” and is followed by the six-digit representation of your date of birth. (mmddyy)
How do I change my password?
To change your password you must go to the student email login page and click on the blue button “Account Settings/ Password Reset.” This will take you to the Account Settings Suite.
How do I login to WCJC Student e-Mail?
You can login by clicking on the home page link that reads “Student e-Mail” below the WCJC connect button, or click on WCJC connect and use the login buttons within the guide.
Can I log in through Google.com?
No. Although student email is provided by Google Apps for Education and uses the Gmail interface, the student email can’t be reached simply by logging on to google.com. You must enter through wcjc.edu.
Where do I get information I need BEFORE I register and get a student email address assigned to me?
Between the time of your application and the date you first register for classes information will be sent to the original email address you provided on your application. This is the address that all notices regarding the completion of the admissions process will be sent.
I can’t login to my Student e-Mail account. What should I do?
Make sure you are not entering the suffix “@student.wcjc.edu” after your e-Mail prefix. If you do, the system will not let you enter.
If you are still having trouble, click on the Account Set Up/ Password Reset” button below the email login box. It will take you to the Account Settings Suite where you can select “forgot password?” to get into your account and reset your password.
