Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of others? Consider our Human Services program. Our courses provide a foundation in social services, counseling, and community outreach that prepares you for a rewarding career in various service-oriented professions.
Earn your Associate of Applied Science degree in Human Services or your certificate of completion as a Human Services Technician. While completing the program, you will participate in external learning experiences in a variety of contexts and will be required to complete a supervised clinical field experience.

After completing the program, you will be prepared for a position as a psychological technician, family/child advocate, human services assistant, crisis support worker, and other human service-related jobs. Upon completion of the A.A.S. degree at WCJC, you may be able to transfer to a university to pursue a bachelors in a human services-related field such as psychology, human services, social work, criminal justice, law or sociology with little or no loss of transfer credit.

In addition to applying to WCJC, Human Services requires a program application. Complete
the application and return it to the Human Services department via email, postal service,
or hand deliver to the departmental secretary. The application is a fillable form
and requires 3 written essays. Complete the form, copy, and write responses to the
essay items. Once the completed application is received, you will receive an email
that describes the next step of the application process.

Ms. Schultz is the director of the Human Services Program in the Division of Allied Health. She received her Bachelor’s and Master of Science degrees from the University of Alaska. Ms. Schultz has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at the university and college level in the Department of Psychology, School of Education, and Human Services Program for several years. She has presented research papers at international and national conferences and published articles in scientific journals. She has many years of clinical experience in both the community mental health environment and private practice. She has a wide range of teaching experience in psychology, human services, and mental health. Ms. Schultz is a Board Certified Practitioner in the field of Human Services.

Ms. May is part-time faculty in the Human Services Program in the Division of Allied
Health. She received her Bachelor’s and Master of Art degrees from Texas Woman's University.
Ms. May has extensive experience in the field of Human Services. She currently is
the Program Specialist of the Sexual Assault Program at the Woman's Center of Brazoria
County. Ms. May has served as Program Director of CASA (Gulf Coast), Investigator/Conservatorship
Caseworker for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. She is certified
within the Human Services field in areas such as LCDC, Anger Resolution Therapist,
Forensic Interviewer, and numerous others. She brings a wealth of experience to the
program.
