Mrs. Mauch received her B.S. from Louisiana State University in 2000, and earned her M.Ed. degree from Texas State University – San Marcos in 2009. She was a Secondary Mathematics teacher (grades 7 – 12) for 10 years before becoming a full-time instructor for Wharton County Junior College in 2012. She has taught College Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Mathematics for Business and Social Sciences, Calculus for Business and Social Sciences, and Precalculus.  Mrs. Mauch received the 2016 WCJC Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Mr. Price earned both his B.S and M.S. in Mathematics from Stephan F. Austin University. Before he began his teaching career, Mr. Price worked as a geophysicist for various oil companies. He then taught math at ITT Technical College for 9 years. Mr. Price has taught Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Calculus for Business and Social Sciences for WCJC since Spring 2017.

Dr. Taylor earned her Doctorate Degree in Professional Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Houston in May 2017. She received both her B.S. in Mathematics and M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011 and 2013. She was a secondary mathematics teacher for 4 years and a district mathematics specialist for 2 years prior to becoming a full-time instructor for Wharton County Junior College in Fall 2017. Dr. Taylor leads the educational consulting and tutoring business, Elevation Station in Richmond, TX. She has taught developmental mathematics courses as well as Math for Teachers, and College Algebra.

Phyllis Bankston

Ms. Bankston holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University, an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago and an M.A. in Mathematics Education from Boston University.  She has almost 20 years of teaching experience at the secondary and college levels. Ms. Bankston joined WCJC  in 2015 as an adjunct instructor. She teaches Beginning and Intermediate Algebra.

Ms. Deleza received her Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University.  She has taught over 16 years at WCJC and over 25 years in public school.  Ms. Deleza teaches Beginning and Intermediate Algebra for WCJC.

Tina Gustavus

Tina Gustavus graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a math specialization. Prior to becoming a Developmental Math adjunct  at WCJC, she taught Beginning and Intermediate Algebra at Texas State Technical College and GED math at McLennan Community College in Waco.

Debra Hamman

Mrs. Hamman received her B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston - Victoria. She received her secondary Teacher Certification from UT Tyler. She taught high school math for 27 years at Boling ISD and El Campo ISD. She was also an Instructional Coach at El Campo High School for 9 years. She received her Master’s in Education - Administration & Supervision in 2010 from the University of Houston - Victoria. Mrs. Hamman currently teaches Beginning Algebra and Intermediate Algebra.

Katie Isaac, JD

Ms. Isaac received her BBA in accounting and finance from the University of Texas and her JD from the University of Houston Law Center.  She taught Business Law at Forsyth Tech Community College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. At WCJC, Ms. Isaac currently teaches taught Beginning and Intermediate Algebra.

Kimberly Kirby

Mrs. Kirby holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science from Colorado State University. She worked for 15 years for NASA as an Aerospace Technologist. Since 2011, Mrs. Kirby has taught mathematics and served as a department head at a private high school in Sugar Land.  She has taught Beginning and Intermediate Algebra at WCJC since Fall 2017.

Mr. Labay graduated from St. Mary University - San Antonio - with a B.A. in Mathematics. He earned his Master's Degree in Curriculum/Instruction from Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Mr. Labay has been teaching for 25 years. His teaching experience includes teaching math on all levels. He is currently teaching Beginning and Intermediate Algebra at WCJC.

 Ms. Lanoux holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Houston and holds a Texas Teacher Certification for Math 8-12. She retired after 13 years of experience teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, Pre-AP Algebra 2, AQR, and AP Statistics at Kempner High School in Sugar Land, Texas.  Ms. Lanoux is also a retired Regional Vice President with AT&T. She has taught Beginning and Intermediate Algebra at WCJC since Spring 2016. 

 Melissa Moore

 Mrs. Moore received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Utah and taught sixth grade mathematics before returning to graduate school. She received her Master of Social Work from Stephen F. Austin University. Mrs. Moore began teaching at WCJC in the Adult Education and Learning Department teaching GED for 3 years. Mrs. Moore is now an adjunct teaching developmental mathematics.  


Alghas Shehni, B.S.

Mr. Shehni is a petroleum engineer and a certified mathematics teacher with 30 hours of graduate courses. Mr. Shehni is a retired teacher with 22 years of high school teaching experience. Mr. Shehni has taught over 10 years as a Beginning and Intermediate Algebra Instructor at WCJC.


Gail Whitaker, B.S.

Mrs. Whitaker holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education from Prairie View A&M University. She taught Business Law, Accounting, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra for 32 years at Scarborough High School in the Houston Independent School District.  Mrs. Whitaker has taught Beginning and Intermediate Algebra at WCJC since 2005.


Burak Yilmaz, PhD

Dr. Yilmaz holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Bilkent University, a M.Ed. in Math Education from University of Central Oklahoma, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from University of Missouri - Kansas City. He has over 12 years of experience in public education as a high school teacher, principal, and district administrator.  Dr. Yilmaz started teaching developmental math courses at WCJC in 2016.

Mrs. Rod received her B.S. degree and teacher certification from Texas A&M University.  She taught high school for two years, and has been a full time instructor for Wharton County Junior College since 1998. Mrs. Rod currently teaches Math 0308 (Beginning Algebra) and Math 0312 (Intermediate Algebra).

Ms. Liu received an M.S. in Business Management from the London Business School Sloan Fellowship, an M.S. in Telecommunication and Networking from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a B.S. in Computer Science, from Missouri University of Science and Technology. She began teaching as an adjunct at WCJC in the fall of 2010 and became a full time faculty member in 2015. Ms. Liu teaches Math 0308, Math 0312, Math 1314, Math 1342, and NCBM 0300.
