Law Enforcement

Learn everything from the history of criminal justice to current crime issues, including the Police Academy curriculum, in our Law Enforcement program. Receive hands-on training in various practices, including basic firearms, peacekeeping techniques, and community outreach. The program takes two years to complete.

When you graduate, you’ll be ready to take the state licensing exam for peace officers and enter local law enforcement. You may also transfer to a four-year institution. With a degree in law enforcement, you have a wide range of career opportunities, including:

Dr. Clark received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in Journalism and English Education, her Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University, and her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Houston. After graduation, Dr. Clark served as a captain in the United States Army in the Judge Advocate General's Corps. Before joining the WCJC faculty in 1998, she was an attorney in private practice in Oklahoma and Texas. Clark has also taught on an adjunct basis at colleges in both Oklahoma and Texas. She teaches all criminal justice courses.

Ms. Hunt worked in law enforcement (Harris County Sheriff’s Office) and corrections (Harris County Adult Probation) before coming to WCJC. Ms. Hunt has held many different positions at WCJC. She started as an Assistant Director of the Police Academy and criminal justice instructor. She has also served as Interim Academic Dean, Social and Behavioral Science Division Chair, Communications and Fine Arts and Division Chair of Math, Readiness, and Justice. Additionally, she has been a Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement instructor. She teaches all criminal justice courses, specializing in corrections and police systems. Ms. Hunt as a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Management, both from Sam Houston State University.
