Academic Map

The Associate of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology program can be completed in two years. Courses are offered on the Richmond, Sugar Land, and Wharton campuses and online. With experienced faculty and innovative course offerings, we prepare our students for success inside and outside of the classroom. By graduation, you will understand the fundamentals of sociology and anthropology and be ready for an entry-level position or to continue to a four-year university.

Meet the Faculty

William Kilgore

Instructor of Sociology
Dr. William Kilgore received his B.S. in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Houston Clear Lake, and will receive two M.A. degrees from this same institution (Sociology; Cross-Cultural Studies). In addition, Kilgore earned an M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of North Texas. Kilgore joined WCJC in 2022 and currently teaches SOCI 1301: Introduction to Sociology, SOCI 1306: Social Problems, SOCI 2301: Marriage and the Family, and SOCI 2319: Minority Studies.

Jon Loessin

Instructor of Sociology and Anthropology
Dr. Jon Loessin received his B.S. and M.A. from Sam Houston State University, ABD from Texas A&M University, and Ph.D. from Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica. He came to WCJC in 1989 from The University of Louisiana at Monroe where he was a Lecturer of Sociology from 1986-1989. He teaches SOCI 1301: Introduction to Sociology, SOCI 1306: Social Problems, SOCI 2319: Minority Studies; PSYC 2319: Social Psychology, and ANTH 2351: Cultural Anthropology. He has also taught ENGL 1301: Composition I, ENGL 1302: Composition II, ENGL 2322: British Literature I, ENGL 2323: British Literature II, ENGL 2333: World Literature II, and HUMA 1301: Introduction to Humanities.

David Jung

Sociology, Part-Time Instructor
Dr. David Jung earned his B. A. and M.A. in Sociology from Baylor University. He also earned an M.B.A. in Human Resources Management and his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Dr. Jung joined the Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology Department as a part-time instructor in 2017.

William Johnson

Sociology, Part-Time Instructor
Mr. William "Bill" Johnson received his B.A. in Sociology from Baylor University and his M.S.S.W. from the University of Texas at Austin.  He joined WCJC in 1995 and has taught Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Minority Studies, and Marriage and the Family both face-to-face and online.  He currently teaches SOCI 1301: Introduction to Sociology.
