Requirements for the EMS Program:
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a high school graduate / or GED
  • Have NEVER been nor currently on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense, a Class B Misdemeanor or above, within the last 10 years
  • Not currently under indictment for any criminal offense
  • Have NEVER been convicted of an offense, a Class B Misdemeanor or above, within the last ten years
  • Have NEVER been convicted of a family violence offense
  • Have been honorably discharged from the military, if applicable
  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license
  • Must meet all admission requirements to Wharton County Junior College
  • Testing:  TSI Reading must be met for entrance into the Paramedic level ONLY, testing is NOT required for the EMT or AEMT levels.
  • Complete an application to the EMS program to receive the required student registration packet (Applicants will be required to pass a physical exam/drug screen and a criminal history)
  • CPR:  Students must have a current HEALTHCARE PROVIDER CPR card from the American Heart Association
