The Grants & Resource Development unit is pleased to be a part of the effort to promote and support WCJC’s mission through the seeking of external funding.

The grants unit has been successful in obtaining funding for the College from a number of competitive external funding sources including Federal, state, and local agencies and foundations.

Congratulations to the administrators, faculty, staff, and project directors who are working to implement innovative, creative programs to improve teaching, learning, student support services, and the use of technology in teaching and learning.

During the past five years, external grant funding has provided more than $5,000,000 for WCJC’s departments and programs. The benefits of these grants have included the following:

  • faculty released time for professional development;
  • faculty/staff time for curriculum/program development and improvement;
  • new technology and technology upgrades;
  • new faculty and staff to support innovative, creative project objectives;
  • teaching/learning software upgrades and integration into curriculum and support services;
  • increased student support services;
  • access and support for students with disabilities;
  • scholarships for study in targeted career fields to improve the local workforce;
  • training for unemployed and underemployed workers;
  • student internships with potential for job placement related to career fields;
  • program assessment and evaluation for program improvement and revision;
  • opportunities for transfer to baccalaureate degree programs,
  • development of state-of-the-art programs in allied health
  • access and support for senior citizens

WCJC provides an infrastructure to support these developing programs. Innovative and creative grant project achievements provide opportunities to ensure best practices for teaching and learning, student retention, graduation, and transfer or job placement outcomes.

The Grants & Resource Development unit offers online technical assistance. Dissemination of grant development resources can be sent via e-mail or through interoffice mail.

All grant projects are designed to assist the College in achieving its mission and the objectives of the WCJC Strategic Plan. Most grant programs require successful, new practices to be institutionalized.
