Recent Grants and Awards Received by WCJC

Gulf Coast Medical Foundation awarded a grant of $110,000 for the period 2007-2009. Purpose: Equipment for the Radiologic Technology Program at WCJC.

Houston Endowment awarded an “Achieving the Dream” grant of $400,000 for the period 2007-2011. Purpose: Development of strategies and programs to help more community college students complete studies and earn degrees/certificates or transfer to baccalaureate programs, with special attention to student populations who are facing the most significant barriers to success, namely, low-income students and students of color.

Johnson Foundation awarded a grant of $320,000 for the period 2007-2009. Purpose: Equipment and supplies for the various programs in the Allied Health Division.

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board awarded a grant of $50,000 for the period July-August 2009. Purpose: Intensive summer training in mathematics and college preparatory workshops for recent GED graduates.

U.S. Department of Labor, Community-based Job Training Program awarded a grant of $496,386 for the period 2009-2012. Purpose: Development of a Nuclear Power Technology Program at the WCJC Bay City Campus.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission awarded a grant of $150,000 for the period 2009-2010. Purpose: Scholarships for students in the Nuclear Power Technology Program.
