Employees and
Students Encouraged
to Cover their Coughs and to Wash Hands Frequently
College employees and students are encouraged to take extra
precautionary measures this fall to help deter any flu virus
that could make its way to the Wharton County Junior College
campuses.
College officials urge students and employees to wash or
sanitize their hands frequently, to cover their mouths when they
sneeze or cough, and to clean items they touch often, such as
computer keyboards, telephones, and door knobs. Anyone
exhibiting flu symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue,
coughing, or a sore throat are encouraged not to come on campus
and to take extra precautions. Students and employees will not
be penalized for staying home when ill. Hand sanitizer is
available in all campus buildings.
Employees and students should visit the website for the Centers
for Disease Control and prevention at
www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/ for details about the H1N1 virus,
including precautions, symptoms, and how the virus spreads.
Information about the virus can also be obtained by contacting
