Admissions Procedures
1. Submit an Application.
If you were a WCJC student in the past, but it has been more than two
years since you were enrolled, you need to update your information by
submitting a new application. You only need to submit one new application. It is not necessary to submit an application for every term you wish to register.
Submit your application online at
Applytexas.org. The on-line
application is quick and easy! After clicking on
Applytexas.org, follow these steps to get started.
Once your application
has been processed, you will receive an acceptance letter by email or
regular mail service. Processing time may vary during peak registration
periods.

C) Fill out the information and click on “Save Profile”,
D) Continue to fill out the application according to the on-screen directions.
Vaccination
A new state law now requires first time in college students receive a
bacterial meningitis vaccination. To learn more about required

Student Type Detailed Admissions Requirements
High School Graduate
– A student who has graduated from a state accredited high school. Required
documents are:
Electronic application.
Official copy of the high school transcript showing the final grades
and date of graduation.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores (if not already
noted on
transcript) Meets the Texas Success Initiative as required by the Texas
Higher Education Coordinating Board.
GED Graduate – A student whose high-school class has graduated may be
admitted by successfully completing the General Education Development (GED)
test. Required documents are:
Electronic application.
GED certificate with official scores and completion date.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores.
Meets the Texas Success Initiative as required by the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board.
Home School/Private School/Non-Accredited High School Graduate
- Required documents are:
Electronic application.
Official transcript signed and notarized by the principal or head of instruction showing the
final grades and date of graduation.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores (if not already noted on
transcript). Meets the Texas Success Initiative as required by the Texas
Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Dual Credit High School Students – High school students may attend Wharton
County Junior College following the completion of their sophomore year from
an accredited high school. Required documents are:
Electronic application.
Current official copy of the high school transcript. One will be required at the end of the
10th and 11th grades.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores (if not already noted on
transcript). Meets the Texas Success Initiative as required by the Texas
Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Early Admissions Form
Early Admission of High School Students – High school students may
attend Wharton County Junior College following the completion of their
sophomore year from an accredited high school. As a means of recognizing
superior high-school achievement, qualified 11th
and 12th grade high school students are permitted to enroll in
the summer session or concurrently with high school enrollment and earn
college credits applicable to the associate degrees. Required documents
are:
Electronic application.
Current official copy of the high school transcript. One will be
required at the end of the 10th and 11th grades.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores (if not already
noted on transcript). Meets the Texas Success Initiative as required by
the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Early Admissions Form
Transfer Students from another accredited college or university
Required documents are:
- Electronic application.
- Official transcript from every college or university attended.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores (if not already
noted on transcript). Meets the Texas Success Initiative as required by
the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Students must comply with Wharton County Junior College's standards on
probation and/or suspension.
Transient Students from another accredited college or university
Required documents are:
Electronic application.
Transient Student Approval Form
OR
- Electronic application
- Official transcript from every college or university attended.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores (if not already
noted on transcript). Meets the Texas Success Initiative as required by
the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Students must comply with Wharton County Junior College's standards on
probation and/or suspension.
Students who are re-entering after not being enrolled for
more than two years or more -
Students who have previously attended Wharton County Junior College but has
not attended for two years or more are eligible for readmission. Required
documents are:
Updated electronic application. A new
application has to be submitted even if nothing has changed to comply with
state residency requirements.
Updated official transcript(s) from every accredited college or
university attended.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores (if not already
noted on transcript). Meets the Texas Success Initiative as required
by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Students reentering after academic suspension should seek advising
through the Counselors office.
Students enrolling in certificate programs - Students seeking a
technical certificate are eligible to attend Wharton County Junior College.
These students are exempt from Success Initiative testing requirements as
long as the student enrolls in the courses within the certificate program(s)
as outlined in the catalog. Students are required to comply with all
specific certificate requirements within the certificate program(s) as
outlined in the catalog. Required documents are:
Electronic application.
Official copy of the high school transcript showing the final grades
and date of graduation.
Official transcript from every accredited college or university
attended.
Official College Entrance, alternative, or exemption test scores if required in
the certificate program (if not already noted on transcript).
Each of the following programs has additional application procedures.
Note: Students entering
Allied Health Programs are required to provide proof of immunization against
measles, rubella, mumps, hepatitis B, and tetanus/diphtheria. All other
students are urged to take preventative health measures.
Students applying to Allied
Health Programs with selective admission criteria are required to submit
data such as test scores and transcripts by deadlines set by the individual
programs. These deadlines are published at the program web sites and
contained in the applications.
IT IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT
TO REQUEST AND SECURE FROM THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE INFORMATION SUCH AS TEST
SCORES AND TRANSCRIPTS WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE STATED DEADLINES. IT IS
PREFERRED THAT APPLICANTS SECURE THE REQUIRED INFORMATION AT ONE TIME AND IN
PERSON.
The Registrar’s office will
not fax or send via interoffice mail test scores or transcripts to the
individual Allied Health Programs.
Prior to the stated
deadline, applicants are encouraged to follow-up with the Allied Health
Program secretary responsible to the program for which they are seeking
admission and determine if their application is complete.
