Qualified professional counselors are on duty twelve months per year to assist students in such areas as choosing a major field of study, vocational planning, selecting a four-year college for transfer, job placement, and individual testing. In addition to professional counselors, each instructor is available for conferences during scheduled office hours. Problems encountered by students and suggested methods to handle problems are as follows:

Personal Advising and Counseling - The counseling staff is able to provide counseling for a variety of student concerns. They may include test anxiety, learning skills problems, relationship issues, alcohol and drug problems, and stress. When major problems are detected, students are referred to clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, or physicians.
