Qualified professional counselors are on duty twelve months
per year to assist
students in such areas as choosing a major field of study,
vocational planning, selecting a four-year college for
transfer, job placement, and individual testing. In addition
to professional counselors, each instructor is available for
conferences during scheduled office hours. Problems
encountered by students and suggested methods to handle
problems are as follows:
Personal Advising and
Counseling - The counseling staff is able to provide
counseling for a variety of student concerns. They may
include test anxiety, learning skills problems, relationship
issues, alcohol and
drug problems, and stress. When major problems are
detected, students are referred to clinical psychologists,
psychiatrists, or physicians.
