Phi
Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa
has been recognizing academic achievement at two-year colleges since 1918. Membership in Phi Theta Kappa carries key advantages for two-year college students. With diverse membership, the Phi Theta Kappa Society offers support from
fellow scholars of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, economic levels, and fields of study who share a variety of interests and ideas.
Invitation into membership in Phi Theta Kappa at WCJC can be extended only by the Zeta Xi chapter. To be eligible, you must be
enrolled at WCJC in an associate degree program; must have
completed at least 12 hours of course work leading to an associate degree (part-time students are eligible); and have a grade point average of 3.5.
If you meet these general eligibility standards, contact the chap- ter advisor at Wharton County Junior College. If you don't know the name of your college's advisor, or if you have further questions, telephone your Student Services office. Invitation to
membership, however, is extended only by the chapter.
Delta
Psi Omega
Delta Psi Omega is a national honor society composed of drama
students who have fulfilled minimum requirements of the local chapter and the national organization. The purpose of the
organization is to promote quality in theater production. Membership is by
invitation only.
Mu Alpha Theta
Mu Alpha Theta, sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America, is a national organization of high schools and junior
colleges whose purpose is the promotion of scholarship, enjoyment, and understanding in mathematics. To be eligible for membership a student must have an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or better, and, in addition, must have completed one semester of college mathematics exclusive of introductive college algebra with a grade of A or B. A freshman or transfer student who was a member in
good standing of another Mu Alpha Theta club may automatically become a member when he or she meets the above requirements.
