Who Can Attend ABE (GED or ESL) Classes?

 

  • Students must be 18 years or older. Age exceptions for 16 & 17-year olds can be made if qualifications are met. See qualifications below.

    • 17 year-old students can be permitted in class if the following requirements are met:

      • Signed and notarized Parent Consent Form.

      • Student Withdrawal Form from last school attended by student.
        (This is a sample only. Your school will provide their own form)”

      • A signed Administrator's Letter from last school attended by student.

      • For home-schooled individuals: 17 year-old home schooled students should present a Home School Form and a Parent Consent Form. (Both documents must be signed and notarized.)

      • If admittance into a program is court-ordered, student must present the court order and it must be signed by the presiding judge.
        *The court order must state "Adult Basic Education Program."


    • 16 year-old students can be permitted in class if the following requirements are met: 

      • Signed and notarized Parent Consent Form.

      • Admittance must be court-ordered. Student must present the court order and it must be signed by the presiding judge.
        *The court order must state "Adult Basic Education Program."


  • All students need to attend a mandatory orientation before entering an ABE (ESL or GED) class.

  • Students must complete an ABE Orientation Registration Form prior to attending an ABE Orientation.

  • Registration for ABE Orientations is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All instructional services, including books, are free.
