Content Areas - Licensure & Certificates

 

  • CHILD DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE (CDA) PROGRAM

    Tuition: $750
    (textbooks are included in cost of the training program)

    This professional training course provides the educational requirements needed to apply for the CDA credentialing process. This is a study of the principles of normal child growth & development from birth to age five. We offer a variety of experiences used to build practical skills in early childhood. The Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition mandates that participants must complete 120 hours of formal childcare education in eight subject areas focusing on cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development of a child. It is the responsibility of the student to collect the additional 480 hours of professional experience as well as submitting a Direct Assessment Application for testing and certification to the Council of Professional Recognition. This should be done upon completion of the course and the field experience hours and requires a non-refundable fee of $325 paid separately to the council at the time the application is submitted.

    Program Entrance Requirements:

    • Completion of a Child Development Associate Training Program application and Field Advisor Consent Form
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Pre-TASP Reading Test with score of 14 or higher. (To schedule exam, please call the WCJC Testing Department at 979-532-6457). Please contact the CE department for testing waivers if you have already taken another college entrance exam (ACT, SAT, THEA, ASSET. Test scores over 3 years old will not be accepted.) 
    • All students must pass a Criminal Background Check.


  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL – CERTIFICATION PREP

    Part 1: This course, the first part of a two-course series, will demystify the PMBOK® Guide, including relationships between inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs.     Part 2: In this, the second part of our two-part certification preparation series, your instructor will continue to demystify the PMBOK® Guide, including relationships between inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs. You'll also gain a strong understanding of such topics as earned value management, risk management, simulation, sensitivity analysis, and make-or-buy analysis. In addition to learning about the PMBOK® Guide, you'll gain insight into PMI's® code of professional responsibility and discover powerful techniques you can use to continue preparing for the PMP® exam after this course is over.     The Continuing Education Department offers several certificates in various fields as well as many technology certification prep courses online. Hours and prices of these courses will vary. Some classes may require that you purchase a textbook or other course materials to successfully complete the class.
