  • CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE TRAINING PROGRAM
    Total Contact Hours: 89
    Tuition: $575
    Application for Certified Nurse Aide Training Program


    Interested in becoming a nurse? Start here! This program provides preparation for entry-level nursing assistants to achieve the necessary knowledge, skill, and ability for providing services to residents of long term care facilities. This course also serves as a great stepping stone towards an LVN or ADN program. Upon passing the state exam, students will be able to enter the field as a Certified Nurse Aide. Classes are offered at various locations and times for your convenience. You must apply through the Continuing Education Department to be accepted into the program, so act fast!

    Supplies: A textbook is required and is available at the WCJC Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Scrubs (top and bottom), stethoscope, watch with second hand, and non-skid shoes are also required.

    *Students are responsible for the cost of the Certified Nurse Aide state exam. Approximate cost of the exam is $85-$100. Testing will be conducted after successful completion of classroom and clinical portions of the class.

    • Program Entrance Requirements:
      • Completion of a Certified Nurse Aide Training Program Application
      • High School Diploma or GED
      • Pre-TASP Reading Test with score of 14 or higher. (To schedule exam, please call the WCJC Testing Department at 979-532-6457). Please contact the CE department for testing waivers if you have already taken another college entrance exam (ACT, SAT, THEA, ASSET. Test scores over 3 years old will not be accepted.).
      • All students must pass a Criminal Background Check, a CNA License Revocation Check, and CNA Employee Misconduct Database Check.


    • Immunizations Required for the Program:
      • MMR – Measles, Mumps, & Rubella
      • Tetanus (Td) – Within the last ten (10) year
      • Varicella (Chickenpox) – Or evidence of disease. A witness statement from an immediate family member is sufficient if no other record exists
      • Hepatitis B Series – Started or completed by the first day of class
      • TB Skin Test – Results can be no older than 60 days old prior to the beginning of the course


  • PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN TRAINING PROGRAM
    Total Contact Hours: 168
    Tuition: $720
    Application for Phlebotomy Technician Training Program

    This course provides skill development in the performance of a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and standard precautions. Emphasis is placed on infection prevention, proper patient identification, labeling of specimens, quality assurance, specimen handling, processing and accessioning. Additional topics include professionalism, ethics and some medical terminology. Class meets for 8 weeks prior to clinical rotations. This course includes 120-hours of work based instruction through clinical rotations. Clinical assignments are given to students by their instructor during class. Clinical assignments are decided by the college, and cannot be revised.

    Supplies: Textbooks are available at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore. Clinical Handbook & packet are given on the first day of class. Disposable lab coat or scrubs (top and bottoms), non-skid shoes (tennis shoes are okay).

    *Students are responsible for the cost of the Phlebotomy Technician state exam. Approximate cost of the exam is $85-$100. Testing will be conducted after successful completion of classroom and clinical portions of the class under the student’s discretion.

      • Completion of a Phlebotomy Technician Training Program Application
      • High School Diploma or GED
      • Pre-TASP Reading Test with score of 14 or higher. (To schedule exam, please call the WCJC Testing Department at 979-532-6457).   • MEDICAL OFFICE SPECIALIST

    Application for Medical Office Specialist Training Program

    The Medical Office Specialist Program is a comprehensive program designed to assist students in gaining the skills and procedures necessary to become effective employees in the medical office. Students of the program will learn medical terminology, medical office procedures, insurance coding and billing. Additionally, the student will develop job-seeking and interpersonal skills.

    The office skills required to work in a medical or physician’s office are quite different from other clerical jobs. This program prepares you for employment in a medical office setting (e.g., physician’s office, dental office, therapy clinic, chiropractic clinic, etc.) or other related business environments. Learning the vital role of smooth operations of the medical facility or office is also covered in this program. Students will learn the keys to positive customer service in the medical office, and how to build and maintain a loyal patient base to maximize your success at work. Upon completion of the program, a certificate is awarded.
