The mission of the Wharton County Junior College Welding Program is to prepare individuals to join the workforce by providing training and skills development in Welding technology.
The Welding Technology Certification program (WTC) is designed to prepare individuals for a career as a welding technician in the fabrication, construction and manufacturing industries. This includes hands-on skills development in the application of SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW and SAW processes, in all positions and using pipe, plate and structural shapes. The WTC curriculum includes basic metallurgy and inspection procedures, and prepares the student for entry –level employment as a structural welder or welding technician.
