Hepatitis B Vaccination Requirement
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) requires students enrolled in health-related courses, which will involve direct patient contact in medical facilities to complete a three dose series of hepatitis B vaccine prior to direct patient care. The Hepatitis B immunization series of 3 injections takes 6 months to complete with the second injection due one month after the first injection and the 3rd injection due 5 months after the 2nd injection.
Applicants must show proof of completion of the Hepatitis B vaccine series or serologic confirmation of immunity to Hepatitis B virus as a condition of full acceptance to the program.
Applicants must have begun
the vaccine series by:
February 1st for Wharton campus admission in order meet this requirement
July 1st for Sugar Land campus admission in order to meet this requirement.
