Study
of the many facets of quality standards and methodologies in the health
information management environment. Topics
include licensing, accreditation, compilation and presentation of data in
statistical formats, quality improvement functions, quality tools, utilization
management, risk management, and medical staff data quality issues. Prerequisites: Concurrent
enrollment in HITT 2339, HITT 2435 and HITT 2166. [Offered spring semester.]
HPRS
2301. Pathophysiology. 3:3:0
Study
of the pathology and general health management of diseases and injuries across
the life span. Topics include
etiology, symptoms, and the physical and psychological reactions to diseases and
injuries. Prerequisites: BIOL 2402 or consent of instructor. [Offered Fall and Spring
semester.]
MRMT
1307. Medical Transcription
Fundamentals. 3:2:4
Fundamentals
of medical transcription with hands-on experience in transcribing physician
dictation including basic reports such as history and physicals, discharge
summaries, consultations, operative reports and other medical reports.
Utilizes transcribing and information processing equipment compatible
with industry standards. Designed
to develop speed and accuracy. Prerequisites: HITT 1301 and HITT 1305 and
ability to type 50 wpm or completion of POFT 1227. [Offered spring semester.]
HITT
1311. Computers in Health Care.

Introduction
to the concepts of computer technology related to health care and the tools and
techniques for collecting, storing, and retrieving health care data. Prerequisites:
COSC 1301 or consent of
department head. [Offered fall semester.]
Capstone
Courses HITT 2167 and HITT 2339 are the culminating
evaluative courses that assess the outcome of the major.
All students must complete these courses with a grade of C or better.
