Health Information Technology

Health Information Technology Degree Now Available ONLINE!

Students can now prepare for a career in Health Information Technology from the comfort of home.

Careers in Health Information Technology are popular due to the diversity of job settings and practice specialties. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for health information professionals will increase by 20 percent through 2018!  100% of the graduates of the 2011 class found employment within six months of graduation.



The Associate Degree Health Information Technology Program at WCJC is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Health Information Management Education (CAHIIM). View our listing at http://cahiim.org.

Thank you for your interest in the Health Information Technology Program at Wharton County Junior College.  If you are interested in a health care career and computers, but not in direct patient care, the health information technology field may be the right field for you!

Information concerning the profession, application procedures, technical standards, curriculum, and faculty can be found on this website. 

Upon your request, an application packet can be sent to you.  Deadline for return of your completed application is the fourth Thursday in June or until the class is filled.  Please contact the Department Head for more information.
