This
course prepares you to enter the field of health care as a
Phlebotomist and qualifies you to take a National
Certification Exam to become certified, if desired. The program consists of 168 hours and prepares students to
work in a hospital, clinic, HMO, insurance agency,
doctors’ offices, private laboratories, and other areas
requiring the obtaining of blood specimens for testing.
Prerequisites:
Limited Class Size –
Register Early
High School Diploma or GED
Pre-TASP READING test results – Must have a
score of 14 or above. Must present test results upon
registering for the courses. To schedule your
Pre-TASP test, call 1-800-561-9252 extension 8434 in Sugar
Land;, ext. 6386 or 6457 in Wharton OR ext. 1532 at the Fort
Bend Tech Center in Richmond.
Exam can only be taken once a semester.
Review of a reading test study guide may be helpful
before taking exam.
Signature
page
stating acknowledgement and acceptance of course
requirements. Must
present the signature page completed upon registering
for the courses.
Current
TB Skin Test (Skin test done within 60 days of class
start date with results
- If test is positive, a follow-up chest X-ray and
physicians statement of treatment must be submitted).
TB Test is NOT required at time of registration
but must be obtained prior to class beginning and records
provided by first day of class.
Immunization
records (Review list required or
documentation in lieu of immunization) Immunization records NOT
required at time of registration but must be obtained
prior to class beginning –
Hepatitis B series started – and records provided by
first day of class.

3 :00-5 :00 p.m.
on campus until clinicals
On campus portion of course:

Clinical hours are 40 hrs./week for
consecutive days M-F; Must be available for day (starting
early morning 5-6 a.m.) & evening shifts.
Clinicals (tentative) for students :
Start date: 10/25/04 End date: 12/08/04
Dates and hours may vary affecting final
date of course completion.
