Continuing Education is
designed to achieve the goals of proficiency,
self-fulfillment, improved home and community living, and
recreation through non-credit continuing education courses.
The college is committed to
promoting the quality of life and economic development of
our service area. The Division of Continuing Education
is integral to this effort. A broad variety of noncredit
offerings and grant-funded programs are offered to meet
community needs as diverse as job training and skills
enhancement to meals-on-wheels service to senior citizens.
Wharton County Junior
College's Division of Continuing Education non-credit
offerings are designed to be responsive to community and
business needs. A small sampling of topics offered through
Wharton County Junior College's Division of Continuing
Education non-credit programming includes supervisory
training, financial planning, customer service training,
communication skills, phlebotomy, certified nurse aide,
industrial motor control, electronics, soldering, welding,
industrial maintenance technology, OSHA compliance, foreign
language training, ESL, Certified Network Engineer, and a
broad variety of training in the latest computer software
packages. Programs can be customized to meet the needs of
businesses or public entities. Wharton County Junior College
can assist area businesses in securing state-funded grants
that will support business expansion and job creation.
The Continuing Education
Division is a focal point for the college's endeavors for
community outreach and service. Grant-funded programs
provide services in Adult Basic Education and GED
preparation. Through the federal Department of Aging, the
college operates the Senior Citizens Center that serves
Wharton and Colorado counties. This program provides in-home
meals and homemaker services to eligible senior citizens in
the community.
