| Sharon
Housman Prince has been teaching for nearly 20 years.
She began teaching in Virginia as a graduate student at
Radford University.
For a few years, she lived and taught in West Virginia.
Prince moved to Texas in 1994 and has taught at several
area community colleges.
After teaching six years full-time at San Jacinto
College, Prince came to WCJC full time.
Her areas of teaching interest include metacognition, the
novel, and the family theme as represented in a variety of art
forms. |

Marsha
Anderson has been a full-time English Instructor at Wharton
Jr. College for five years. She holds a B.S. in Professional
Writing and a M.A. in Literature from University of Houston.
She has been teaching for over 18 years. Some of Anderson's
writing projects include her first book How to Have a Good Day
Everyday, her women's magazine that she publishes entitled, Have
a Good Day Magazine and a play called Drama Queens. Ms.
Anderson is also a freelance photographer and she enjoys spending
time at coffee houses reading. |

Rick Bush has taught English and
German at the high school and college levels. He has
published one of his poems and a journal article on teaching.
Prior to coming to WCJC, Bush worked as a technical writer and a
translator of documents written in German. He is currently a
researcher for folk and music historian Robert "Mack"
McCormick's forthcoming book An Almost Savage Joy. |

Ava King Humme received her B.A. in Journalism from Texas A & M University and M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with additional course work in English Literature from the University of Houston-Victoria. Since 1991 she has taught for WCJC in various departments, including Vocational Education, Adult Basic Education, Developmental Studies, and English and Humanities. Ms. Humme has taught at the University of Houston-Victoria and for Region IV of the Texas Education Agency and volunteered as a Special Education reading tutor for middle school students in Fort Bend ISD. She also has a strong professional background as a writer and editor for several major energy companies.

| Angela Kocurek graduated with a B.A. and M.A. in English from Sam Houston State University where she started her career teaching freshman writing. She was later awarded a fellowship from The University of Houston and began work towards a Ph.D. in English literature. Her area of doctoral study and research is British Romanticism, particularly nineteenth-century aesthetics and philosophy and their influence on modern art and culture. Angela has taught at WCJC since 2005. | |

Karen Lescure graduated with her
Master’s degree in English in 1997 and teaches English for
Wharton County Junior College at the Sugar Land campus. She
has been full-time faculty member since the fall of 2004. In
addition to teaching English, Karen also enjoys writing in her
spare time and has published a narrative in the Houston
Chronicle's Texas Magazine. |

| Jennifer Mooney graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2003 with an M.A. in English literature, with an emphasis in Literary Criticism and British Literature. She obtained her B.A. from Robert Morris University in 2002, where she later returned to begin her teaching career in 2004. In subsequent years, she has also taught at Point Park University (Pittsburgh, PA) and Jefferson County Community College (Steubenville, OH). She joined WCJC’s faculty full time in the Fall of 2008. | |

View A&M In 1991, Dr. Nealy graduated from
Prairie View A&M University with a B.A. in English.
In the same year, she began working toward her M.A. in
English at Texas A&M University.
Upon completion of her M.A., she began work on her Ph.D. in
education at Texas A&M. In
August 1994, she became a full-time instructor in the Department
of English at Prairie View A&M University.
In the summer of 2000, Dr. Nealy finished the Prentice
Hall TASP Writing Guide, which she co-authored with Karen
Hackley, a Houston Community College instructor.
Dr. Nealy completed her service at Prairie View A&M
University in 2001 and began teaching English full-time at Wharton
County Junior College in 2002. |

| Dr. Joyce O'Shea received her BA cum laude at Catawba College in North Carolina, majoring in English. She then attended Appalachian State University, where she obtained a master's degree in American literature. Her master's thesis was titled "Wives Vs. Career Women in Eleven Novels of Sinclair Lewis." Later she received a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Kent State University in Ohio, where the focus of her dissertation research was students' evaluations of college teaching at the two-year college. Her teaching career over the years ranged from Appalachian State University in North Carolina to Parsons College in Iowa and to Greenville Technical College in South Carolina, where she was Chairperson of the English Department. She also taught at the University of Akron and became Head of the English Department at Stark State College of Technology in Ohio before coming to Wharton County Junior College in January of 1999 as a part-time instructor. The following year she was hired full-time in the English Department. Since joining the faculty at WCJC, Dr. O'Shea has served as department head and as an instructor of many of the courses offered in the English curriculum. Points of interest in her on-going research in effective teaching include successful use of discussion in the classroom and the processes used by professional writers in composing both fiction and non-fiction. | |

Hello! My name is Scott Stripling. After teaching four years as an Adjunct Instructor at WCJC, I transitioned to full-time status in August of 2009. In the past, I taught at UT Brownsville, International Bible College, Belhaven College, and University of Phoenix. I attended five different universities, and my degrees include: BS (English/Physical Education), MA (English), MA (Biblical Literature), and DMin (Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology). I am currently writing the dissertation for my PhD in Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology on the topic of “What happened to the lost City of Livias?”. love teaching literature and the writing process, and my passion is Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology (focused on Israel and Jordan). At WCJC, I teach all of the writing and literature courses as well as Humanities. |
