Welcome to the Drama Department at Wharton County Junior College. Our program is designed to help create the complete theatre student. We hope that after two years of study, each student will have gained experience in performance, construction, and design. All productions are designed and built by students under the supervision of the theatre director. Whether or not you have ever used a hammer, threaded a needle, or delivered a monologue on stage, we will challenge you to explore and experience each of these opportunities to help discover your hidden talents and interests. Plays are chosen to give students a broad understanding of theatrical styles and techniques:

  Program Objectives:

In the two years that students are here we hope:

1. To provide each student with a variety of performance,
technical, and management experiences to broaden his/her
understanding of theatre crafts.

2. To encourage each student to develop his/her own
individual creativity and better develop his/her
leadership skills through rehearsal, performance, and
classroom experiences.

3. To foster an understanding and respect for the
individual discipline required for deadline-based
creative work.

4. To enrich each student's understanding of theatre
arts.

We have many exciting opportunities for students and we offer scholarships to assist students in pursuing their educational goals. For more information, please contact Phil Hoke at Phoke@wcjc.edu or (979) 532-6397. Thank you for visiting our Web page.
