Lecture and Ensemble Applied Music Courses

MUSIC (MUAP)  Applied Music Courses

  MUAP 1120.  Applied Music—Woodwind.                         1:1/2:0

Individual lessons in piccolo, flute, oboe, bassoon, and all clarinets and saxophones. One-half hour of instruction and four and one-half practice hours required a week.   May be repeated for four semesters for credit. Prerequisite: Music major or consent of department head. [Offered fall and spring semesters.]

  MUAP 1145.  Applied Music—Brass.                                  1:1/2:0

Individual lessons in French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and tuba.  One-half hour of instruction and four and one-half practice hours required a week. May be repeated for four semesters for credit. Four and one-half practice hours a week. Prerequisite:  Music major or consent of department head. [Offered fall and spring semesters.]

 MUAP 1160.  Applied Music—Percussion.                         1:1/2:0

Individual lessons in all primary percussion instru­ments. One-half hour of instruction and four and one-half practice hours required a week. May be repeated for four semesters for credit. Prerequisite:  Music major or consent of department head. [Offered fall and spring semesters.]

  MUAP 1165.  Applied Music—Organ (Private).                  1:1/2:0

Designed for keyboard students who have advanced beyond class piano and for piano majors who wish to study organ as a secondary instrument.  Availability of staff determines number of students enrolled. One-half hour of instruction and four and one-half practice hours required a week.  May be repeated for four semesters for credit. Prerequisites:  Music major or consent of department head. Previous keyboard experience required. [Offered fall and spring semesters.]

For students who have advanced beyond beginning piano classes.  Availability of staff determines number of students who may enroll.  One-half hour of instruction and four and one-half practice hours required a week.  May be repeated for four semesters for credit.  Prerequisites:  Music major or consent of department head.  [Offered fall and spring semesters.]

Individual private lessons for students who are too advanced for beginning voice class.  Course may be taken for four semesters for credit.
