  BIOL 1322.  Nutrition.    3:3:0

Designed to develop an understanding of metabolism, nutrition, diet analysis, and diet therapy for students of nursing and other areas of science. Prerequisite: BIOL1406 or BIOL2401with a grade of “C” or better, or concurrent enrollment in BIOL 2402 strongly suggested. [Offered fall and spring semesters.]  Type:  Acad

Topics emphasized will include the chemical basis of life; cell organization, function, and reproduction; energy pathways; and genetics and molecular biology. Prerequisites:  THEA reading and writing requirements met.  [Offered fall and spring semesters] Type:  Acad

Study of human interaction with and the effect upon plant and animal communities. Includes a study of the management of natural resources, the problems caused by human population and pollution, the balance of ecosystems, and mankind’s role in the environment.  Field trips required. Prerequisite enrollment in BIOL 2306 or credit for BIOL 2306.  Not for major credit.   Type:  Acad

  BIOL 2420.  Microbiology.  (Core 030)  4:3:2

Fundamental course for students in nursing, pharmacy, and allied health programs; stresses introductory laboratory procedures and theoretical concepts, with particular emphasis on microorganisms that cause disease.
