Intent
of this course is to help people feel more confident of their ability to provide
temporary assistance in an emergency. This
course meets American Red Cross certification requirements in Standard First Aid
and Adult CPR. Students meeting the
requirements will receive ARC Certification in Standard First Aid and Adult CPR.
Prerequisite: THEA reading requirement met or concurrent enrollment in

1346. Drug Use and Abuse.

Provides
current and accurate information about drug substances in an accurate and
scientific manner. Focuses on psychoactive (mind-altering) drugs. Also considers
non-psychoactives that are frequently misused along with legal recreational
drugs. Course is organized into six major parts including an overview of drug
problems in America, depressants, stimulants, euphoriants, over-the-counter and
prescribed medicines, and ATOD abuse and prevention methodologies.
Prerequisite: Minimum passing score on THEA reading test or concurrent
enrollment in Reading 0307. [Video course.]
