The Greater Houston area and southeast Texas has one of the largest concentrations of employment opportunities for chemistry professionals in the world with the petroleum and petrochemical industrial companies that operate production facilities in this area. 

Students who choose to enter the workforce at the completion of their WCJC education can expect to be well prepared for employment as chemical laboratory technicians in a variety of specialties. Examples include research and development, chemical production, environmental, industrial health, medical, pharmaceutical, and process technology.

Students who continue on to a professional degree in chemistry or allied disciplines can also expect many career opportunities.
