Is
financial aid available?
Yes, to qualified students and veterans.

2. When is the FA offered? WCJC offers a daytime class at the Richmond campus in the fall and spring. Day classes are held 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for 18 weeks.

How much can I miss? NONE. But, you are allowed approximately 2.5% of the total number
of hours.
4. Will this course certify me as a Fire Fighter in Texas? Yes, the FA is the first step. The second step is the Texas Basic Commission Fire Fighter Exam. After passing the commission exam, you will need to attend an EMT-B or higher course, or already possess an EMT-B or higher certification from the Texas Department of Health to be eligible for employment as a Texas Commissioned Fire Fighter.
5. Are
there jobs? Yes, but it may take you six months to a year to go to work
as a careered fire fighter.
6. What
additional supplies will I need for the class?
Notetaking materials, required books, Full Protective Clothing (NFPA
approved), and uniforms (dress, casual, and workout).

When do I pay? Tuition/fees must be paid at time of registration.
9. Do I need college credit before I enroll into the FA? No, just a high school diploma or G.E.D.

Do you have an age limit?
Just that you must be 18 years of age.
11.
Will we have any time off from school? Yes, we follow the college holiday schedule.
12.
Is the FA college credit approved?
Yes, upon successful completion of the entire academy, the student will receive
26 college credit hours.
