Minimum Requirements

The following qualifications MUST be met before taking the entry exam:

• Be a U.S. citizen
• Be a high school graduate or have passed the G.E.D. test.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have not been convicted any any time of a felony offense
• Must not be on probation for any criminal offense above a grade of Class C Misdemeanor.
• Have not been convicted of any grade offense for family violence, Class A or B Misdemeanor offense (including DWI or DUID) within the last five years.
• Have been honorably discharged from the military, if applicable.
• Possess a valid Texas driver's license.
• Must have physical endurance to lift a normal size human.
• Apply and be accepted by WCJC as a student.

Applicants will be required to pass a physical and drug screen. Fire fighters that are already employed may not be required to complete this part of the process.  See academy packet for details.
