  1. Is financial aid available? Yes, to qualified students and veterans. Contact the Financial Aid Office at  1-800-561-9252 ext. 6345.

  2. When is the BPOC offered? WCJC offers a night class at the Wharton and Richmond campuses in the Fall; and a daytime class at the Wharton campus in the Fall and Spring. Night classes are held 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and some Saturday's from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for 32 weeks. Day classes are held 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for 16 weeks.

  3. How much can I miss? NONE. But, you are allowed approximately 10% of the total number of hours.

  4. Will this course certify me as a police officer in Texas? Yes, the BPOC is the first step. The second step is the Texas Peace Officer Licensing Exam. After passing the licensing exam, you are eligible to be employed as a Texas Peace Officer.

  5. Are there jobs? Yes, but it may take you six months to a year to go to work as a paid police officer. 

  6. What kind of gun will I need? None. The Police Academy will supply all weapons and ammunition for the BPOC training.

  7. What additional supplies will I need for the class? Note taking materials, a belt for the handgun, black footwear, and a pants’ belt. See academy packet for details

  8. How can I pay? You can pay with cash, credit card (Visa or Mastercard), check, or money order. Contact the WCJC Business Office for more details

  9. When do I pay? Tuition/fees must be paid at time of registration.

  10. Do you have an age limit? Just that you must be 21 years of age within 60 days after graduation from the BPOC.

  11. Will we have any time off from school? Yes, we follow the college holiday schedule.
