Academic Interests: Development of critical thinking skills and motivational factors

Rebecca Helms McElroy has been an instructor of Psychology at Wharton County Junior College since 2004.  She holds a B.A. in both Psychology and Sociology from Houston Baptist University, where she received her M.A. (cum laude) in Clinical Psychology. McElroy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked in private practice as well as in clinical settings. She has completed post graduate work in School Psychology. She received certification in Dispute Resolution from the South Texas College of Law and has worked in the Harris County Court System as a mediator.

Lesley Snow Blanks began her teaching career at Stephen F. Austin State University while pursuing her graduate degree. Blanks taught for the North Harris Montgomery Community College District before becoming a full-time instructor at Wharton County Junior College in Fall 2006.

Academic Interests: Neuropsychopharmcology, personality, human sexuality, social psychology

Kelly Cone received her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in art and an M.A. in Psychology from Sam Houston State University.  Cone participated in research for her thesis: Naloxone Exacerbates Ketamine-induced Hyperactivity in the Open Field in Female Rats that was published in the Journal Pharmacology Biochemistry & Behavior in 2005.  She began teaching at Wharton County Junior College in Fall 2005.  Prior to teaching at WCJC she taught at Sam Houston State University and at North Harris Montgomery Community College District and Angelina College

Patricia Rehak has been an Instructor of Psychology at Wharton County Junior College since 1996.  She is a certified elementary education teacher and taught for thirteen years in elementary education prior to instructing higher education. Patricia also currently holds the position of Instructional Assessment Coordinator for the college in addition to her instructional load.

Doug Soderstrom has been an instructor of psychology at Wharton County Junior College since 1978.  He has numerous publications to his credit and is currently working on a book concerning the psychological effects of war on the United States. Dr. Soderstrom is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas.
