A
broad range of learning resources that support the professional development for
faculty and staff is now available at the library. Please contact the library
or the Instructional Assessment Coordinator if there are any materials that the
library needs to provide that is not covered in the information as given below.
The books,
videotapes/DVDs and journals are shelved in the room adjacent to the
Instructional Assessment Coordinator’s office (2nd floor, J. M. Hodges
Library).
Books and Videos/DVDs
Books and Videos/DVDs can
be checked out to faculty/staff for 30 days (one renewal allowed). The
collection will continue to expand to assist the program.

online catalog and type in “professional

STARLINK
As
an agency of the Texas Association of Community Colleges, STARLINK provides
professional development and informational teleconferences via satellite and the
internet. The
WCJC library has about 34 VHS tapes for programs from 2001 to the present and 44
archive tapes (1990 to 2000).

Faculty/staff
can check out any program tape.
The library media technician will produce an individual program tape in
either VHS or DVD format if faculty/staff asks for a duplicate copy.

is a non-profit association formed to promote the development and application of
all forms of distance learning and to implement effective distance learning

Journals
The current
issues of “New Directions for Community Colleges”, “New
Directions for Student Services” and “New Directions for Teaching
and Learning” can be checked out to faculty/staff.
Online database
In light of the
increasing preference for electronic resources, articles from these journals as
listed above are also available online via library proxy server at
http://www.wcjc.edu. Click on
Library and
then Online Databases (Proxy Server).
Select Professional Development Collection under the category of
Education & Social Science.
The database of
Professional Development Collection includes full text for
Chronicle of Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Journal of Education,
Journal of Higher Education, Journal of Learning Disabilities, Theory Into
Practice, and nearly 550 high quality education journals. This database also
contains more than 200 educational reports.
