FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WHARTON, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College is offering a Fall 2021 First-Time in College Scholarship to all first time in college students who have enrolled for the Fall 2021 semester and are taking six or more credit hours. First time in college students taking six to 11 credit hours will receive a $500 scholarship and students taking 12 or more credit hours will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Students are required to complete WCJC admission requirements to receive the scholarships. The funds will be applied directly to the students’ Fall 2021 tuition and fees balances.

“This is the first time WCJC has offered this type of scholarship opportunity,” said WCJC’s Director of Financial Aid Leslie Kolojaco. “These scholarships are intended to reduce financial barriers for students who are beginning college amid the economic uncertainty created by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. We hope these funds will start our first time in college students on a path to academic success.”
