Wharton County Junior College received a $10,000 donation from the Matagorda Complex of LyondellBasell. BAY CITY – Wharton County Junior College recently received a $10,000 donation from the Matagorda Complex of LyondellBasell, one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world.

The donation will support the Process Technology program, which is housed at the college’s Bay City campus. Process Technology is a two-year program that prepares students to work as process operators in petrochemical plants, refining companies and other related industries.

An appreciation luncheon was held in March at the Bay City campus for LyondellBasell representatives and college officials. Those in attendance included Willie Myles, WCJC’s Instructor of Process Technology; Ryan Norris, Operations Manager of LyondellBasell’s Matagorda Complex; Joe Hoinkis, Site Manager of LyondellBasell’s  Matagorda Complex; WCJC President Betty McCrohan; Gloria Crockett, Bay City Campus Specialist; David Pena, Instructor of Process Technology; Rudolph Henry, Instructor of Nuclear Power Technology; and Gerald Kinder, Instructor of Manufacturing Technology.
