Wharton County Junior College has earned special recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for excellence in financial reporting. WHARTON, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College has earned a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The college earned the recognition for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 2021.

“We hope that your example will encourage other government officials in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting,” wrote Michele Mark Levine, director of GFOA’s Technical Services, in a letter to the college.

The GFOA said that the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. As part of the recognition, the college received an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA).
