WHARTON, TEXAS – The Wharton County Junior College Choir’s “Once Upon a Time” concert will transport listeners to otherworldly realms of fairytales, zombies, and witches. The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Horton Foote Theatre in the Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus. The event is free of admission and open to the public.

WCJC Choir Director Dr. Karl Paoletti said the concert’s theme was ideal for this time of year.

“We wanted to perform songs about fantastical places and events,” he said.

Selections will include Michael Jackson’s hit “Thriller” and the Harry Potter tune “Double Trouble.” Other songs will come from popular movies like Into the Woods and Hocus Pocus. For funk fans, there will also be a selection from Earth, Wind and Fire. Paoletti noted that his students have done an excellent job of tackling the complex rhythms.

“I think the audience will really enjoy this theme,” he said. “There’s so many great songs.”
