WHARTON, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College students Elaina Light of Sugar Land and Spencer Cole of Needville have been chosen to represent the WCJC Choir at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Light and Cole were selected, along with around 150 other students from community colleges across the state, to perform with the Texas Two Year All-State Choir. They will sing nine songs in various languages, including Russian, Spanish and the South Indian language of Kannada.

“I’m pretty excited for this very fruitful and very engaging conference,” said Cole, a vocal music major. “It’s a great opportunity to network with different music schools across Texas.”

This will be the largest group that either student has performed with.

“This event is a great way to gain experience and I’m very excited to sing with everyone,” added Light, who is also a vocal music major. “I’m looking forward to having a good time.”
