RICHMOND, TEXAS – Wharton County Junior College hosted an event at the Richmond campus earlier this month in observance of national Law Day. Guest speakers were Wharton County District Attorney Mark Racer and Fort Bend County District Judge Christian Becerra.

“The WCJC annual Law Day observation gives our students an opportunity to interact with local legal professionals while also providing us with a means of observing and celebrating our great nation’s legal system,” said WCJC Paralegal Studies Program Director Dr. Erma Hart.

According to the American Bar Association’s website, Law Day is a nationwide observance held each year on May 1 to “celebrate the rule of law.”

“Law Day provides an opportunity to understand how law and the legal process protect our liberty, strive to achieve justice, and contribute to the freedoms that all Americans share,” the website states.

During WCJC’s observance, two students — Cade Meyer of Needville and Jennifer Umali of Richmond — were recognized for their academic achievement and were inducted into the Lambda Epsilon Chi legal honor society.
