WHARTON, TEXAS — Wharton County Junior College’s Senior Citizens Program will host a Bingo Fundraiser this summer for the benefit of area seniors. Scheduled for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, in the Pioneer Student Center Ballroom on the Wharton campus, the event will feature assorted themed prizes, refreshments, and, of course, bingo.
Cost is $25 per ticket to play, with proceeds benefitting the WCJC Senior Citizens Program.
“One hundred percent of all proceeds from this event will go directly to our program so that we can continue to serve our local senior citizens,” said WCJC Senior Citizens Program Director Traci Myers. “We are hoping for a great turnout in support of our program.”
The WCJC Senior Citizens Program is housed at the LaDieu Technology Center on WCJC’s Wharton campus but also operates centers in El Campo, Eagle Lake, Weimar and Columbus. Meals, health screenings and social events are provided regularly at the centers, while transportation is offered locally. Hot meals are also delivered to homebound seniors daily.
The program is free of cost to area residents 60 years of age or older.
Sponsorships are still available for the Bingo Fundraiser, ranging from silver ($250 donation) to gold ($500 donation) to platinum ($1,000 and up). Sponsors will receive special recognition and meal and bingo tickets.
