Library Resources for Faculty and Staff

At WCJC, the library isn't just for students. We also offer a broad range of resources that support our faculty members' professional development. Want to enhance your lesson plan? Refine your specialty knowledge? Learn something new? Find what you need at the WCJC Library.

Faculty & Staff Resources

Whether you need a specific resource or want to peruse our digital databases, you can do so at the library. Use the information below to navigate the many aspects of WCJC library resources.

Faculty and staff can check out books, videos, DVDs, or CDs for 30 days, with one option to renew their checked item.

To locate the materials in the professional development collection, please search the WCJC library online catalog using the term "professional development."

The WCJC library offers faculty and staff members access to several professional development programs, including those from these organizations:

  • The National Institute for Staff & Organizational Development (NISOD). NISOD provides professional development programs and resources for community college faculty, staff, and administrators. All WCJC faculty and staff have unlimited access to NISOD live events and recording sessions. To access NISOD events and webinars, create an account using your WCJC email. Select "Wharton County Junior College" for the Institutional Affiliation option. Please note that some live events require a fee. For WCJC to cover this fee, you will need to submit a Request for Professional Leave (required even for virtual events) and then submit for reimbursement. For questions, please call 979-532-6953 or email.
  • PBS TeacherLine. This site provides a number of professional development programs for online educators.
  • The State of Texas Academic Resource Link (STARLINK). STARLINK provides professional development streaming videos through their website. WCJC faculty and staff can use their college email address to register for videos under the "Members Only" section. The library also holds current STARLINK programs via VHS and DVD recordings. Please contact the library to gain access.
  • Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA). TxDLA is a nonprofit association formed to promote the development and application of all forms of distance learning and to implement effective distance learning strategies for Texans and other distance learning practitioners of the global community.
